Good afternoon parents,

We hope this message finds you healthy and safe.  Mrs. Pastor, Superintendent of Southgate Community Schools, sent out a letter detailing the planning that is taking place for next year.  In that letter she also included a survey for parents.  If you haven’t completed the survey, or for some reason didn’t receive the email, here is the link to her survey:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdf6PXJ9S4VaCFAmjmnn1jc_z-VTcxB4D9Mh15-Va5FqTyyiw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Just a reminder that next week we will be distributing yearbooks and pictures for those students who had ordered them and collecting school items.  If you haven’t signed up for a time slot using Sign Up Genius, here are the links to do so:

8th grade students and parents, we have been informed by the high school that testing out opportunities will not take place this summer.  They do however plan to have those opportunities available in the fall.  The high school has assured us that any students who wish to take advantage of testing out in the future in order to take more advanced courses while in high school will be able to do so.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding testing out, please contact Anderson High School.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact either Mr. Kemp or Mrs. Hinzmann.  We miss our students' faces and we look forward to seeing them next week,  even if it is only for a short period of time.  We hope you have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Good afternoon 7th grade parents,

We hope this email finds you safe and well.

On Wednesday, June 10th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. we will be allowing students to come into the building for dropping off school property and picking up personal belongings.  You will have to make an appointment by using the Sign Up Genius link located at the bottom of this letter to sign up for a specific time slot.  There will be 10 time slots available in 15 minute increments.  We are requiring that only your child enter the building and maintain social distancing guidelines that have been put forth by the governor. This includes having the student wear a mask in the building. We are also requiring that you provide a backpack/bag for your child to bring home the contents of their locker.

7th grade parents are being asked to come to the parking lot off of Trenton Road.  Let your child out of your vehicle and have them enter through the cafeteria doors.  We will only be having 10 7th grade students at a time in the building.  We will have dots outside the doors where your child will enter.  Your child will stand on the dots and when a student leaves the building we will allow another child to enter the building or move up a dot.  As your child enters the building, we will have a table for students to drop off school property including library books, uniforms, text books, borrowed items from teachers, instruments, etc.  Students will then follow the traffic flow through the downstairs counseling office hallway, up the 7th grade stairwell by the window bank and going through the hallway from Mr. Grabetz’s and Mrs. Richardson’s Room to Mr. Memering and Mrs. Soko’s Room and down the center stairs. As they pass their locker, they will clean out all their belongings and take them home.  Staff will assist them if they forgot their locker combination.  They will only be allowed to access the locker they were assigned by the school. After they are done with their locker, they will continue with the one direction traffic flow. At the bottom of the main stairs we will have a table for students to pick up their yearbook/pictures if they ordered them.  They will exit out the main office doors.

We do have a limited amount of yearbooks that will be for sale for those students who did not preorder them.  We will be accepting $35.00, exact cash only, and students can buy a yearbook.  This will be done on a first come first serve basis.  The yearbooks that will be for sale will be located near where your child will exit the building.

I would like to remind you that our offices are still closed at this time.  We will only be allowing students in the building during this process and they will be following the traffic pattern that was described. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Kemp or Mrs. Hinzmann.

Dear Davidson Families,

As we enter the last four weeks of the school year, we are so proud of the students who have dedicated time to their studies and tried to keep on schedule.  Although this may be hard, it will benefit you in the long run.  If you have felt yourself start to slide or slack off, the end is in sight.  Jump back in and try to set some learning goals for yourself next week.

We have just a few announcements for you.  We are tweaking our final plans for locker clean out, yearbook distribution, and an 8th grade “Social Distance Celebration.”  These will occur the week of June 8.  For those of you that did not preorder a yearbook, we will have 136 available for purchase at $35 a piece.

Also, for all our athletes, the MHSAA has made a policy change for the coming 2020-2021 school year.  If a student has a physical on file with the school after April 15, 2019, they do not have to have a new physical.  Parents do need to fill out a Health Questionnaire which is located at the MHSAA website MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire before an athlete can try out for a team.

Nice weather is on the horizon! Try to get out and go for a walk next week.  We have a scavenger hunt for you to try if you want to share some pictures with us.  Hinzmannb@sgate.k12.mi.us Kempd@sgate.k12.mi.us

  • A tree stump with over 40 rings.

  • Animal  tracks.

  • A bird with something in its beak.

  • A cloud, flower, or leaf that looks like your teacher.

  • A sunset (Like Ponyboy!)

As always, we wish you the best and hope you all are healthy.

Stay Safe, Stay Titan Strong,

Mr. Kemp and Mrs. Hinzmann
